Short Bio: Dr. Iti Saha Misra is the former Head of the Department and now a professor in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. She completed her B.Tech degree in Radio Physics and Electronics from Calcutta University (1989) and Masters in Telecommunication Engineering from Jadavpur University (1991), Kolkata, India. After the completion of PhD in Engineering in the field of Microstrip Antennas from Jadavpur University, she is actively engaged in teaching since 1997. Prof. Iti Saha Misra has 25 + years of research experience in the fields of Wireless Communication and Networks and 20 + years of teaching experience in the Department of ETCE. She is the recipient of prestigious Career award for Young teachers by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in 2004, obtained IETE Gowri memorial award in 2007 in the best paper category for the topic of “4G networks: Migration to the Future”, co–author of several best paper awards in the wireless communication domain . She has authored more than 250 research papers in refereed Journals ( IEEE, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley) and International Conferences and has filed several (5) patents out of the recent research in Cognitive Radio Networks for VoIP communication and IoT based health care services. She is the author of widely acclaimed text book on “Wireless Communication and Networks: 3G and Beyond” published by McGraw Hill. One book on “VoIP communication Challenges and Applications” is under Springer publication by September 2018. She has prepared Course Materials for the M. Tech in Distributed Mobile Computing, Jadavpur University under UPE I program of University with Potential of Excellence.
She has supervised 20 PhDs out of which 2 PhD students obtained IEEE-URSI Young Scientist Award (First Position) and one obtained financial assistance and certificate of appreciation in 2016. She has supervised projects from Govt. of India like, DST FIST, DST PURSE, UGC-UPE, UGC, AICTE etc. Her current research interests are in the areas of VoIP over Cognitive Radio Networks, Low Cost and Energy Efficient IoT solutions, Mobility Management, Wireless Body Area Networks, Radio Resource Management, 5G Networks and Intelligent Transport System etc. She has developed Broadband Wireless Communication Laboratory to carry out advanced research under wireless communication in the ETCE Department of Jadavpur University. She has visited the International Laboratories in Stanford, USA, NTU Singapore, University of Melbourne, Australia, University of Indonesia, University of Penang, Malaysia, CVUT Technological University, Prague etc.; presented her research outcomes at various topics at international places. She is in collaborative work with a Prof. from Department of Business Development and Technology, of Aarhus University, Denmark and Founder Chairman, Global ICT Standardization Forum for India. She has acted as reviewer for IEEE Transaction of Wireless Commutation, IEEE Transaction on Antennas and Propagation, Journal of Wireless Networks, Springer, Transaction on European Telecommunications,
Computer Communication Network, Elsevier, IEEE Journal APWL, RF and Microwave Computer-Aided Engineering, IETE Technical Reviews, IEEE Globecom, IEEE ICC, IEEE VTC, IEEE ICON, IEEE WCNC etc. Served as TPC Member of International Conference and qlso has served as Session Chairs of many international/national conferences within India and abroad. She was the General Chair for IEEE International 5G Summit , Kolkata , March 17-18, 2017 and the steering committee member for 5G Summit IIT, Patna.She is the Senior Member of IEEE, Present ComSoc Chairperson, Kolkata Chapter, the founder Chair of Women in Engineering Affinity Group, IEEE Kolkata Section. Under her leadership, WIE Affinity Group won the first prize in 2007 and IEEE ComSoc Kolkata Chapter won two times Chapter Achievement Awards CAA 2015 and CAA 2017 for the quality technical activities for Communication Society (ComSoc). She obtained the IEEE SIGHT grant from USA to carry out the work on “Low Cost Low Bandwidth remote virtual education platform” during 2013-2014 and successfully completed the project.
